Spring Festival

          Chinese people have spring festival every year. In spring festival much Chinese family likes to eat dumplings, kid’s loves to have red bag and people watch fire cracker when it is New Year.

To start with, my mom and I make dumplings at the first day of the Chinese New Year. Dumpling means wealth in China. I like to make dumplings, it is easy to make. My mother and I put pork on the wrappers, then we put water around it, at last, you mold dumplings. My best part of making dumplings is to mold dumplings because you can make whatever it looks like. Well, I like to eat dumplings more than just make dumplings. You will ask me why because I love to use vinegar on the dumplings and eat them. It teats sour. Chinese people use chopsticks to eat dumplings. I like to eat many defend kinds of dumplings. My favorite dumplings are pork dumplings. Some dumplings are very huge, some are very small. You know the biggest dumplings in Shanghai are bigger than a bowl, and they have many juice in it too. I love dumplings so much.

Second, my parents gave me red bag at the first day of the Chinese New Year.  Red color means good lock all year. I love red bags, because I think it is a good thing to have our own money. I can buy whatever I want at the store. I also can save money for going some places, like Japan. I also will have a lot of candies to eat too.  Kids love to eat candies. I do not to throw my red bags away, because the animal will change every year. 2011 year is rabbit year. We have mouse, cow, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, chicken, dog, and pig, goes around each year. Red bag can make “Year” away from us, it is a bad guy. Parents put money in the red bag and put under my pillow, because the “Year” will not come to your house.

Chinese people do fire crackers for the first of the Chinese New Year. Chinese people use fire cracker to make the “Year” go away. There are many driftnet fire cracker sell in China. One kind of fire cracker is for people to see in the sky. Another kinds of are small and thin, and they are red. Chinese people call fire cracker [bian pao]. Let me tell you a story about why people use fire cracker. I think you don’t know what means “Cross Year” let me tell you a story about it. A long time ago, “Year” comes to Earth ad killed many people. One old lady have a good idea, she put meet, chicken, and all kinds of stuffs on a big table, and wait for “Year” comes. When the “Year” came, old grandma throw fire crackers on the “Year”. “Year” is afraid of red color and loud noise. At last, the “Year” ran away. The old grandma think the “Year” might come back to Earth, so she teaches people how to use fire cracker, and use it every first of the Chinese New Year.  Children like to play fire cracker.

            Chinese spring festival is a huge celebration. There is much enjoyable stuff in China. People love to eat dumplings. I love to have my red bags. I also like the story too. I love spring festival.

The many things that I am thank for

I have many things to be thankful for in my life, but the three things that I am most thankful for are my family; they give me a lot of love.  I am also thankful to be a student at OVS because there are many actives in our school. I am thankful the books because I can learn many things from books.

First, my dog Jason is a yellow lab, he is only 8 month old dog, and he is funny. He likes to turn around when he is sleeping, and sometimes he opens his mouth. He makes me laugh when he is sleeping, and he snores a lot. My dad teaches me lots of things. Well, my dad is good at math and science. He shows me how to do math all the time. My dad is also a joker; he tells me many funny jokes. My mom teaches me how to cook when she have free time. I know how to cook egg and tomato soup, and it is my favorite’s food. There are not many rules in cooking lesson, but you have to wash your hands before you do everything. I learned many things with her.

Next, I am thankful to be a student at OVS. Dorm children have a lot of free time after school in the dorm. Some times day students come to girls’ dorm and chase each other, or play cards games. We also like to ride bicycles after dinner. Is a good exercise, but I do not know how to ride bicycle. I learned how to ride horses half years ago; it is very good for your body. We, ride horses for good balance, and I was not good at that. Riding helps me a lot. Horses are not easy to ride, because sometimes some will canter by them self if you are a beginner. And I am thankful Wendy and Miss. A. I have a good time.

Then, I am thankful the books. They are good for you. The books teach you the things that you don’t know. One time, I was reading a book about China, and I know the great wall is more than 4,000 miles long. Another time, I was reading a book about ninja, and I learned it is not easy to be a ninja. The books help you learn more English. When I read a book, but there is a word that I don’t know, I can use Dictionary to help me what meaning is it.  It “takes” you many places than you have never been before. I have never gone to the ice mountain before, but it tells me a lot information, so I know what the weather is in four seasons. I love to read books.

At last, I am thankful to be a student at OVS, I am thankful my family, I am thankful the books and I am happy on earth. 

My 6th grade camping trip

It is my second time to go to OVS camping trip, and 6th grade had a wonderful camping trip. We saw a lot of things while camping. I learned many things that I do not know. Camping make you do more exercise. I love it so much.

          To start with, there is a lot of things and do. We hiked the top of the mountain. It was long, but we saw many mountains and rivers. We also climbed a rock together. I saw many shells on the rock, and it was my first time to climb the rock. First I was really afraid, because there were a lot of algae on the rock. The algae will make me fall down, so I try to not step on the algae. We saw a lot of seabirds try to take our food. Some old birds are mean to other baby birds. Camping trip was great; we have a lot of fun at there. I like it.

          Another example, I also learned a lot of lessons while camping. I learned about be save. Like we have to wear water shoes when we in the sea. So your shoes would not get loss. I also learned how to cut fruit. You need to wash your hands before you cut everything. Cut fruit is not that easy, because you have made shore the fruit is big enough. I learned what kinds of leaf smells good, and what smells bad. Some leaves if you touch it, you will get itchy all weak, like poison oak. I learn a lot of things that I do not know.

Also, the camping trip invaders a lot of healthy activates. Hiking is one of those. It is really hard when you go up to the mountain. But it is harder when you go down the mountain, because it will make you fall down. It is not a good idea to wear a pair of shoes; you need to wear running shoes. We went to the beach and play with our classmate. I went to swim and we chase to each other. We play with other. Oh, I also climb some rock near the beach. It was not that hard, but the water was keep coming to the rock. Some people were scare. I did many activates.

Finally, full camping trips are helpful. There were lot things to play. Also I learned lots of things that I do not know. I think camping was really great. I think it was really fun and good for us.

         
      

My Most Embarrassing Moment

A year ago, I was with my mother on the airplane to go to Japan. Because it is a new airplane, so they have tree row in a line. And I was sitting in the middle. My mom was sit at left, and at right there is a Japanese guy. I was very tided , because the airplane was late. So  I start to fall asleep.  When I git up my mom thell me about what did I do on the airplane. First I was fall asleep on my  mother ‘s shoulder . Then I starts to sleep to the japanese guy, my mom is awake,so she pull me back. But I still sleep on japanese guy and speek Chinese when I sleep. My mom think it is a good way if wakes me up, and she did it. Now I know what’s happened, my face was realy red, and I don’t know what should I say. I hope the time will gofaster!

My Mother

Guess what, I and my mother just have the same birthday, but not year. Now my mother is 44 years old. My mother wear glasses, and she Have short hair. She is good at cook, and she loves to wear dress. She likes to eat potatoes with egg soup. It’s really healthy. She can play guitar, and she want to learn piano.                 

All about me

Hi, my name is Jenny. I am from China. I born in Shanghai. I am 11 years old. There are three people in my family, mom, dad, and me. I have a Labrador called Jason, and he is 5 month old, he is really heavy. I went to Japan, American, Hong Kong, and Korea with my family, it was fun. I will go to French with my mom next year. My favorite color is sky blue. I can swim, play basketball, and a little bit of ping pong. I went to summer camp two times ago.        

          Now I am in ESL class with Miss Cassidy. We have Science in the first class, some times we make thing to help us learn more about it. I like ride horse Hank, some times he is naughty, because he does not want to walk, but I still like him.

          When I was 4 years old I learn piano, but it over at second grade, because I have too many homework to do. But I still playing piano. In 2008 I make a song by my self, and I did it. And this year I make a new song by my self. It is not really hard to make songs, because you just have to listen other people’s songs and hard work. I love music!
